Boss cherry wood stain

Sirs,

A solid well made product at a good price and the finish seems durable enough. I'm fabricating cherry wood cabinetry, desk top and book cases to integrate with the Boss Pedestal and other Boss files for two home offices and am having to apply heavy coats of cherry wood stain to raw cherry wood to come near to matching the color of the Boss cherry wood cabinets. It seems 3 shades too dark for a natural cherry. It is more like a rosewood!?

That being said, this is the eighth Boss cherry-wood file or product I've purchased through Amazon. On all of the files, the drawers are consistently tight and free running and, overall, I'm satisfied function-wise.

Needs Some Work

I bought this item because I needed some additional storage in my home office, and also a stand for my rather large and heavy Ricoh laser printer. After unpacking it (it arrived reasonably well boxed to avoid damage) I noticed right off the bat something wasn't right. Further examination showed that the glue joint between the left side and back had not been glued, and these pieces were separated almost all the way down to the bottom. The right side seemed to be solidly joined to the back, so this had to be a quality problem with the factory that manufactured it. Luckily I do woodworking as a hobby so I had the glue and clamps to fix the joint. However, the majority of people who buy this item would have had to return it because of this defect.

I had to lop off two stars on my rating because of this problem. Now that its fixed, it does make a nice office storage unit. It's a good looking piece even with "printed on" wood grain (I chose the cherry finish), the drawers slide easily and with the top I applied it makes a good printer stand as well. Beware that it is heavy and cannot be easily moved by hand with the drawers in place. I would recommend this product with the caveat that it may not arrive in usable condition based on my experience.

Quality product

Purchased this item based on the reviews posted. The build quality is great. There isn't much you have to do inorder to start using the file cabinet. Great for a home office or important paper storage. I'm using it for the later but contemplating using it as a building block for a home office. Highly recommend this item and will by more.
